Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
