Donald Trump's Framework of Retribution and Reward

Donald Trump's voracious desire for retribution has rapidly evolved into a structured framework. Over the twelve months, the leader's rage and whims have taken on the guise of government actions in a manner analogous to earlier authoritarian systems. Federal personnel who do not cooperate are summarily fired and replaced by devotees. Opposing officials who question him encounter prosecution, judicial process and penalties. Adversaries have been designated under presidential memoranda as “anti-American”, “opposed to religious values” and “against free markets”, and warned with prosecution as “terrorists”.

The Justice System Remade

Each case involving legal action of critics and protection for supporters demonstrates its own particular characteristics. But, regardless of their particular character, they exemplify expressions of what has emerged as a systematic method. Such episodes are far from isolated. The administration's removal of DoJ prosecutors and law enforcement agents, accompanied by his installation of devotees in senior roles, began rapidly, quickly assumed a consistency, and has now been formed into a regime. Federal prosecutors and the FBI have been remade into ideological organizations under the president's clear command to execute his wishes. Unfairness has been rendered normal. This is the apparatus of revenge.

Administration is preoccupied with penalizing the leader's supposed adversaries than they are with safeguarding our national security.

Internal the Structure

The foundation of this system has been revealed in the court filing of multiple former top law enforcement officials submitted in the ninth month in the US district court in the capital against agency head a senior appointee and top lawyer another official for wrongful dismissal in “a campaign of revenge against Plaintiffs for what the accused deemed to be a refusal to demonstrate proper allegiance”. According to the filing that a former acting director, the previous interim leader, details a exchange in which the director “publicly acknowledged the illegality of his behavior”.

He had attempted to defend FBI agents from being fired, the complaint alleges. He told him that “they” – perceived by him to be the White House and federal prosecutors – had ordered him to dismiss all those who they determined as having been involved in a criminal investigation against him. The document goes on: “The director explained that he had to dismiss the personnel his bosses told him to remove, because his capacity to hold his own position was contingent on the removal of the personnel who handled matters involving the President. The director commented that there was no way he or Driscoll could do to halt these or any other dismissals, because ‘the FBI attempted to place the chief in prison and he remembers.’” Once the official told him he was disregarding the bureau's own policies, the director allegedly said “he recognized that and he realized the essence of the summary firings were almost certainly unlawful”.

Extensive Consequences

Since his claimed confession to the official, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau have been weakened and repurposed for the administration's system of punishment. Multiple of the FBI's high-ranking agents were terminated or pushed out in the first days of the administration. About numerous legal professionals at the department have accepted a “early exit scheme”. No fewer than multiple government attorneys, among them those in the New York office, stepped down in dissent over what they considered as partisan influence in abandoning the corruption case against the city leader, Eric Adams, in return for his cooperation with the administration's ICE roundups of foreign nationals. The anti-corruption unit of the department, which handles ethical violations, has been reduced to a handful of lawyers. The rights protection unit has been severely reduced: seventy percent of its personnel has left. One-third of executives at DoJ have resigned. The unit implementing conservation statutes has seen departures of a majority its supervisors.

Rewards and Punishments

Concerning the mayor's situation, the interim prosecutor for the federal division, she, quit in dissent against what she described as the “trade-off”. A key figure, the president's “immigration leader,” showed up as the implementer with Adams on television to state: “If he doesn't come through, I will return in NYC.”. Additionally, another figure, earlier the senior DoJ official and a former Trump attorney, who negotiated the deal, was given an court role, a potential springboard to the judicial branch.

The president's exemption for offenses perpetrated while in government, awarded by the unprecedented judgment of the Republican majority on the highest court, thus thwarting his criminal case over the Capitol riot and maintaining his political viability for the 2024 election, is the basis on which he stands to defend his supporters. Given this protection, he has been freed to authorize corruption. The consequence of the court judgment infuses his administration and the Republican Party down to its bones. The legal case has escalated. Similar to a past leader's administration lawyer John Dean said about the Watergate
